Bongekile Mildred Simelane (born July 26, 1994), better known as Babes Wodumo is a South African gqom artist and choreographer. She rose to fame following the release of her breakthrough song “Wololo”, in 2016. The song later appeared on her debut studio album, Gqom Queen, released in late 2016. Babes Wodumo is a part of the music connoisseurs who were pivotal in influencing the genre’s international acclaim including the likes of South African.
Babes Wodumo married Mandla Maphumulo in 2020. In 2021 they had their first child, even though Babes’ parents didn’t know. They have a reality show, “uthando lodumo,” which premiered on the Showmax channel (495). Her husband later passed away in December 2022, due to a stroke.
Before the passing of Mampintsha, there was a lot of drama happening between Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha’s family because Mampintsha’s mom didn’t like Babes, and after the passing of Mampintsha things got even more dramatic after Babes didn’t allow Mampintsha’s mom to see Mampintsha’s body at the morgue. After all, that drama Babes and Mampintsha’s mom tried to fix things when Babes apologized to Mampintsha’s mom on the day of Mampintsha’s’ funeral.
But things took a huge turn when Babes Wodumo posted on social media saying, she doesn’t like Mampintsha’s family. This got people saying does it mean she was pretending at the funeral when she apologized to Mampintsha’s mom.
On 15 January 2023 days after Mampintsha’s mom was admitted to a hospital she posted a picture of Mampintsha’s mom and Mampintsha’s son saying Get well to her. Below is what she posted that got people dragging her:
After seeing this picture some people didn’t trust what she posted, someone even commented saying you can’t wait to dance at her funeral. I guess it’s true when they say to be careful what you post. This person didn’t know saying this Mampintsha’s mom will be no more in a few hours.
People on social media are bitter. Yes, Babes said some things to Mampintsha’s family and she probably didn’t mean them but she was angry and probably hoping that when Mampintsha’s mom get well they fix things. But unfortunately, she didn’t make it, hopefully, they will fix things with the remaining family.
