Humble Beginnings: Costa Titch Gets Groovy On Stage With Cassper Nyovest As His Dancer

An old video of Costa Titch getting groovy on stage during a performance while working with Cassper Nyovest has warmed Mzansi’s hearts.

Costa Titch formerly worked in a restaurant before following his dream and jumping into the South African entertainment industry.

He started as a dancer. When he was 15, Brieflyreports that he joined the New Age Steez dance crew with Tumi Tladi and Phantom Steeze, and they were so good that they stormed the Hip Hop International Dance Competition, where they took the 14th position.

After that, rapper Cassper Nyovest took note of his immense dancing prowess and recruited him as one of his dancers.

Nyovest revealed this in 2020 when Costa Titch blew up with his megahit Nkalakatha, featuring Riky Rick and AKA. A fan said he sees a lot of Cassper in Costa, to which the Siyathandana rapper revealed:

“He was my dancer for like 4/5 years. I guess he was taking notes. He’s doing his thing. Kudos.”

One Twitter user posted an old video of Cassper Nyovest on stage, and his dancers were rocking the crowd as he hyped them. The rapper then told the fans that white people could dance in Africa, and Costa Titch went to the front and started grooving.

The crowd couldn’t help but scream at how good he was.

A few years later, when Costa Titch had established his name as a rapper and a performer, the two former colleagues got into a “little beef”.

In 2021, Costa said hip-hop artists are uniting and taking the genre forward, and those who switched to Amapiano should “stay there and let us fix what you broke.” Nyovest had been riding high on the Amapiano wave at that time, even releasing an album.

Months later, while in Cape Town, Nyovest saw Costa Titch performing Big Flexa when it had just dropped. The Tito Mboweni singer took a video and posted it on Twitter, saying this was the same person who once berated Amapiano and said he was saving SA Hip-Hop.

This led to a back-and-forth, and Nyovest later decided to let the issue go.

Yesterday, the rapper commiserated over the untimely death of Costa Titch, who collapsed and died on stage on Saturday. He tweeted:

“RIP Costa Titch. Condolences to his family and fans.”
