South Africans online are furious at Don Design for pouring Hennessy into close friend AKA’s grave during his burial yesterday.
AKA, real name Kiernan Forbes, was interredyesterday at a private ceremony attended by family, close friends, and associates.
The Sim Dope hitmaker was taken to his Bryanston home after his profoundly touching memorial service on Friday, 17 February. An all-BMW convoy then ferried him to his final resting place, where he was sombrely buried on 18 February.
The most eyebrow-raising moment at the burial came as mourners at the funeral threw dirt on AKA’s coffin. His friend, Don Design, took out a bottle of Hennessy and poured it into the grave, dripping the late rapper’s coffin.
The practice, known as a libation, dates back thousands of years and is done by mourners to pay tribute to the deceased, Beyond The Dash explains.
However, South Africans expressed reservations when Don Design poured Hennessy. People suspect he had a hand in AKA’s gruesome shooting in Durban on 10 February.
The Forbes family and AKA’s friend Da L.E.S however came out last week to defend him, appealing to the public to stop pointing fingers.
